Home of Christ in Cupertino (California) is a Chinese church in Silicon Valley that has recognized that people in their community have a variety of emotional and mental health needs and responded with a robust mental health ministry in both Chinese 中文 and English.
Since 2016, the Home of Christ Church in Cupertino has offered a continuum of care to the community, which now includes Parenting/Marriage Workshops, Griefshare, Stephen Ministry, and counseling services provided at Upward Counseling Center.
Their mental health ministry’s introduction video shows this visualization of how their programs fit together for a continuum of care.

And this flyer shows how they’re communicating effectively in both English and Chinese to invite people for Compassionate Care.

What an inspiring example of an active mental health ministry in a Chinese church! CAMH’s director DJ Chuang was delighted to meet two of its co-founders, Stanley and Esther Kuo, in July 2024, when he learned of their church’s team effort over the years to work intentionally together across languages and cultures.

We are planning to record a video conversation so more Chinese churches can learn from their example for launching and operating a continuum of care for people in their Chinese American churches and communities too. Stay tuned.
